Tottenham agree deal worth up to £85m with Man City for Savinho

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal with Manchester City for Brazil winger Savinho worth up to £85m. The 22-year-old will undergo a medical before signing.

The numbers, and both sources agree

• Sky Sports: "Spurs will pay an initial £75m for the Brazil international, with a further £10m available in add-ons."
• ESPN: the deal is worth "up to £85 million ($116m)", made up of "an initial £75m plus a further £10m in performance related add-ons, of which £5m is easily achievable."

Not done yet

The clubs have agreed; the player has not signed. Sky Sports reports Savinho "is scheduled to have a medical with Tottenham on Friday afternoon." ESPN says he "will now undergo a medical before signing a long-term contract at Spurs" — neither outlet states the contract length, so we do not either.

No club has announced anything officially at the time of publication.

Why City are willing to sell

Per ESPN, Savinho "made just 53 appearances for City — registering two goals and 12 assists" after joining from Troyes in 2024 for €40m. Sky Sports adds that last season he "started only seven of his 24 Premier League appearances, in which he scored once and set up two goals."

A player bought for €40m and sold for an initial £75m is a clear accounting profit for City, and a signal he never became a first-choice option under Pep Guardiola.

Tottenham's rebuild

ESPN lists Spurs' summer business so far: Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke, plus free agents Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dúbravka. Sources also told ESPN that "Tottenham remain in talks over a separate deal for City forward Omar Marmoush."
