Inter Milan agree £30m deal with Liverpool for Curtis Jones

Inter Milan have agreed a £30m deal with Liverpool for midfielder Curtis Jones, and the 25-year-old has been given permission to travel for a medical, according to Sky Sports.

Sky Sports reports the fee as "£30m (€35m)"; ESPN puts it "in the region of £30 million ($40.8m)". The two figures line up. ESPN states the transfer "has not yet been finalised", and neither Liverpool nor Inter had announced anything at the time of writing.

Jones made 228 appearances for Liverpool and scored 22 goals after breaking into the first team in the 2018-19 season, per Sky Sports, and played 49 games in all competitions last season, per ESPN. ESPN adds that he has just one year remaining on his Liverpool contract — the commercial logic behind selling now.

He would be the third England international to join Inter in this window, after John Stones and Djed Spence. A move would end a 16-year association with Liverpool, which Jones joined at the age of nine.

Liverpool start the Premier League season away at Newcastle United (22:30 Sunday 23 August, Vietnam time).
