Brenden Aaronson signs new three-year Leeds United deal until 2029

Leeds United have announced that Brenden Aaronson has signed a new three-year contract, keeping him at Elland Road until 2029.

The club published the news on 20 August 2026, two days before their Premier League opener. Leeds' official site says the American "will now remain at Elland Road until 2029 after committing his future to the Whites".

Announced before matchday one, not after

The timing stands out. Most extensions are pushed past the opening weekend; Leeds went the other way.

The club statement, carried by ESPN, reads: "Everyone at Leeds United is thrilled Brenden has extended his stay with the club ahead of our opening league fixture this weekend against Nottingham Forest. We now look forward to seeing him continue to impress at Elland Road and away from home over the years to come."

ESPN reports Aaronson is 25 and that Leeds announced the deal on Thursday.

129 appearances since 2022

Per ESPN, Aaronson has made 129 appearances for Leeds since joining in 2022.

For 2025-26, the club site and ESPN give the same numbers: 37 games, 4 goals, 5 assists. Leeds finished 14th in the Premier League that season. The club site also notes he was part of their Championship-winning squad before the return to the top flight.

World Cup, then preseason goals

Leeds' site says Aaronson represented the United States at the summer FIFA World Cup, reaching the round of 16. ESPN adds that he scored in preseason friendlies against Liverpool and Manchester United.
