Guglielmo Vicario joins Juventus on season-long loan from Tottenham

Juventus have signed Guglielmo Vicario on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur, running until 30 June 2027. Both clubs have confirmed the move.
Tottenham said the deal includes an option — not an obligation — to make the transfer permanent next summer. Neither club disclosed a fee. Sky Sports reported the option to buy is set at £8.5m (€10m), a figure neither club has confirmed.
The 29-year-old goalkeeper leaves after three seasons in north London. Sky Sports News reported in June that Vicario was expected to depart, with Antonin Kinsky established as Tottenham's first-choice goalkeeper.
Vicario was not Juventus' first target. According to Sky, the Italian side pursued Aston Villa's Emiliano Martínez but cooled their interest after an £8.5m offer was rejected. Villa's valuation, together with Martínez's ongoing injury issues including a knock to his finger, led Juventus to turn to Vicario instead.
Vicario joined Spurs from Empoli in June 2023 and made 117 appearances for the club, keeping 29 clean sheets. He was a key part of Tottenham's Europa League triumph in 2024/25, starting nine of the 15 matches on the road to the trophy.
He has five caps for Italy, having earned his first senior call-up in March 2024. Before moving to England he came through Udinese and played for Venezia, Perugia, Cagliari and Empoli, where he made 69 Serie A appearances and, in Juventus' words, "established himself as one of the very best goalkeepers in Italy".
Tottenham begin the 2026/27 Premier League season away at Brentford on Saturday 22 August.
